jedmonds@brightsidecounseling.net | 303-353-9226

Jessica Edmonds couples counselorJessica Edmonds opened Brightside Counseling Services, LLC in June of 2009 with the hopes of giving clients an opportunity to grow in every aspect of their life and help eliminate the many difficulties that come with seeking out a counselor.

Jessica has had a passion for this field since her Junior year of high school where she took an elective psychology class. From that day forward, she told everyone, “I’m going to be a counselor.” Since then, she has worked at various mental health centers, group homes and counseling agencies.

Jessica holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Regis University. In addition, she currently has a certificate in counseling children and adolescents, and is obtaining ones in marriage and family therapy and counseling military families. She also holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Northern Colorado: one in psychology and the other in sociology with an emphasis in family studies.

Jessica works with a wide range of clients although her passion is helping couples gain a better understanding of each other, teach communication skills and help rejuvenate the love that was present in the beginning of the relationship. Couples face many issues that if not confronted can turn into resentment, heartache, and the eventual death of the relationship.

In session, Jessica uses many techniques to help her clients “move” in the therapeutic process. Because everyone is different, Jessica believes that her techniques when working with clients will need to change as well.  Some of the modalities she uses are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT),  Solution Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Gottman’s Couples Therapy to name a few.

Jessica’s specialty areas include but are not limited to:

Jessica’s favorite quote is,“A failure is not always a mistake, it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying.” – B.F. Skinner

Rose Monk, MA
Counselor

rmonk@brightsidecounseling.net | 303-353-9226

Rose is a therapist practicing as an Integrative Counselor with Brightside Counseling Services. Her professional background and education gives her a unique and effective approach to counseling clients experiencing problems in relationship complications, emotional difficulties, or behavioral issues. Rose’s passion is helping those suffering, with issues or in crisis, heal and find a path to progress. She works to provide individuals and couples with personalized treatment plans that can be easily included into daily living. These plans accomplish progress and overcome issues.

Sometimes life unravels when problems arise. Everyone experiences issues, and individuals respond uniquely. Many people struggle during problems and become overwhelmed, exhausted, and may even feel out of options, anxious, or even hopeless. Some find themselves seeking assistance through counseling when their response to an issue does not provide the desired outcome.

Rose is educated in a wide range of evidence based therapies. No problems are exactly alike and she feels there is not a single approach that will provide a solution to fit every individual’s issues. That is why she is an integrative counselor and utilizes many different approaches in an integrative process. She is studied in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR for anxiety/depression/trauma, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Emotional Behavior Therapy (EBT)Solution Focused Therapy, and Gottman’s Couples Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Couples counseling (EFT).

Rose’s specialty areas include but are not limited to:

Rose’s favorite quote is, “At some point we decide that fear either says be scared of loss or ready yourself for growth.” – Brendon Burchard.

Atsede Scarseth, BA
Intern Counselor

Ascarseth@brightsidecounseling.net | 303-353-9226

Atsede Scarseth is currently an intern at Brightside Counseling Services, gaining her masters degree from an avid nature and animal lover that was raised in NY (both Manhattan and Ithaca), and attended Alfred University in western NY, to study Clinical Counseling Psychology. She had the idea of working with people in an intimate yet professional way for a long time, but every year since she began her undergraduate career, the idea has been molded into a concrete career path. She has seen her professional path all the more clearly since moving to the mountains. Her hope is to guide those in need towards healthy lifestyle choices and increase the enrichment of people’s lives. She feels that everyone deserves the chance to function as his or her own advocate and feels grateful to have the ability to facilitate that opportunity, one person, couple, and family system at a time. My ultimate goal is to help people reconnect with nature in a meaningful and sustainable way, which provides opportunities for wellness outside of the therapy room. She is currently attending Northwestern University’s distance program to acquire her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The training she is receiving is focused in psychodynamic theory, however she is being exposed to other modalities such as Internal Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Atsede’s specialty areas include but are not limited to:

Atsede’s favorite quote is, “Radical acceptance rests on letting go of the illusions of control and a willingness to notice and accept things as they are right now, without judging.” -Marsha Linehan

She takes pride in working with children in the field, but also loves the relationships that she builds with adult clients. In the future, she sees herself continuing to work with children and families. Her ultimate hope is to assist clients in working through potential problems that might occur in their lives and to teach them about the tools that they will need to live a life of fulfillment. As a counselor in training, Danielle’s modalities are being developed, though she does like to focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.
